This page will be under construction for a while. I will also add a little more history later. Names and dates can get boring after a while. I would like to thank Tim Wright Kerns and Jim Dickey for help in compiling this information. Last update 03/31/2000

My Wright family has been rumored to be members of the United Empire Loyalists. I have not proven this yet, but I remember being told by my mother that the Wright's were tories during the revolution. This means that my search in New Brunswick will probably lead me back to the states, or more correctly for the time, colonies. There is mention of a Uriah Wright in Loyalist papers, but he predates my known ancestor by a good margin. The search there continues. Charles Wright was a famer and lived in York county with his wife, Mary, in Dumfries and also in Canterbury. One of their children, Uriah, moved to New Hampshire and then all the way down to Florida. Uriah worked in the milling industry and was a superintendent of a Saw Mill in Apalachicola before an accident claimed his life. The nomadic lifestle came about because of his trade, but moving from New Hampshire down to Florida is a big undertaking. A family friend by the name of James Coombs offered Uriah employment in his sawmilling ventures down in the Florida panhandle. James Coombs is a interesting individual who was a Union army officer during the civil war and later became one of the single most important businessmen in Franklin County, Florida's millling industry. My Great-Grandfather Uriah was one of his superintendent's of his Saw mill.
